this is going to rock

The final role in The Mooring has been cast! Brian Brophy will be playing the role of Richard. See the announcement at the news blog. Yayyyy!

There's been a change in shooting locations. Instead of Kentucky, we'll be filming in Idaho. Hearing about the locations currently being scouted is so happymaking. It's gonna be great. I can't wait.

The Mooring website has added a production blog where various crew and cast will be posting throughout pre-production and beyond. Right now you can read a couple of posts from Jen Samson, web-designer and script supervisor extraordinaire. Finding out about the process from different points of view is fascinating.

I am busy with prep for the movie on my end. I'll talk more about that later. Meanwhile, in case you forgot . . . I. Am. So. Excited.

press weekend

This past weekend, I flew to Washington (from AZ) for a couple of intense press-related days for The Mooring.

Saturday - my plane came in at 10 PM and I was met by Hailee, whose house I stayed at. I discovered that my luggage never left San Diego. Big bummer as (food allergies and all) I kind of needed the food I had packed in the suitcase. Thankfully I'd packed a little on my carry-on, plus the family I stayed with was uber-kind about helping me get groceries and meals. (Thank you, Naccaratos!)

Sunday - Met cast-mates Lilli and Katie. The three of us each had a photoshoot session that day with Glenn for new headshots. I had such a great time doing mine, although it was a lot uncomfortable poses (that looked good on camera) and not moving and holding my head just-so. Glenn would throw out a bunch of adjectives for how he wanted my expression to be, and I'd try to mash them all together in one look. It was intense and hard, but man, so fun. Photos of the entire cast have finally been posted online; go to the cast page on the website to see them.

Later in the day, Glenn talked to us about different movie-related things, as well as the interviews coming up the following day. Lilli, Hailee and I went to bed early to rest up for the following day.

Monday - Woke up at 5 AM, showered, dressed, ate, and headed to a local radio station (it was a country music-broadcasting station) for an on-air interview. In the car on the way there, we were listening to the two DJs, and then suddenly we were talking to them in-studio and other people were listening to us. Craziness. You can listen to the interview here to hear us talk about the plot, our characters, and more. I also met for the first time castmates Anna and Olivia.

In the afternoon, Glenn talked to us more about the movie and what we need to do to prepare, etc. At around 2 PM an interviewer and cameraman came to shoot a segment for that night's 10 o'clock Fox news. A sneek-peek can be seen here . . . I'll let you know when the full interview is posted (which even I haven't seen yet).

At 5 PM we went to the local news station for a live TV interview. I loved seeing the inside of the studio and how everything worked! Way cool. I don't have a link for that interview yet, either, but will post when I do.

I was in bed before 9 PM that night, and up at 3:15 the next morning for an early flight. It was an exhausting weekend, but so rewarding, and I'm really glad I was able to go. I loved meeting some of the other girls, and seeing Hallie, Glenn and Ivy is always great. Everything seems more real and tangible, now. We're going to make a movie this summer. WOW.

Cast of "The Mooring" Announced

The cast includes Lilli Hendrickson of Washington as Justine; Hailee Naccarato of Washington as Holly; Larissa Hayden of Texas as Remi; Erin McIntosh of Idaho as Claire; Anna Goodwin of Washington as Margot; Olivia Meyer of Washington as Madison; Karli Blalock of Oklahoma as Ashley; Jessica Pepeli of California as Natalie; Katie Simpson of Washington as Dawn, and Brooklyn Tate of Colorado as Mickey.
Read the full press release announcement. Hailee Naccarato and I are friends; we met at the workshop-series I took in February and have stayed in touch since. I'm so excited to work with her again; she rocks. And I can't wait to meet everyone else!

Some of the crew have been announced too, including the producer, Penelope L. Foster. She's produced a bunch of movies, but I'm especially tickled that she produced Free Willy, which was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I remember watching it multiple times when I was little. And now she's going to be producing a movie that I have a part in. Way cool. :)

I'm going to be in a movie, Part 2

First of all, a huge huge thank you to everyone who commented on my blogs/myspace/facebook or sent emails and messages of congratulations. Honestly, it means a lot, knowing so many people are happy for me and supporting me. Thank you. I feel so, so blessed.

At the moment I'm not allowed to say much, about the plot or my character or the cast or producer/rest of crew, even though I'm very excited about all those things. I'll update this blog whenever I'm able to give more information. I'm hoping for Internet access and ability to post during the shoot, too, but who knows.

The Mooring is an indie feature, and I have absolutely no idea what exactly will happen with it as far as distribution goes (I'm guessing it'll make the rounds at various film festivals, for starters), but I'm hoping and praying for the best. I'd appreciate everyone's prayers for smooth filming, that everyone involved will stay healthy and strong, and that the movie will be a success.

The official cast announcement is supposed to come out later this week, so I'll share that with you all when it does! And thank you all again for sharing in my excitement. xoxo.
